Have you ever met someone at a business dinner or let’s say…ahem…a client phone call and you just CLICKED? That someone for us was MALLORY…aka Mallerina, the future Mrs. Doughty. I have a habit of making fast friends, especially with clients, but this girl had me at “Hello”. Seriously, my brother was so smitten with this couple, that he officiated the ceremony (see how we keep it in the family).
Kevin and Mallory had definite ideas about the feel of their special day. We would consider it, Virginia Rustic Chic. The major request was that they have the ceremony outside, under our birch arch…so of course it rained off and one the week of the wedding. Virginia weather can be fickle…especially in October, but with some fast thinking and a great team assisting us, Bekah was able to pull off a sweet outdoor ceremony in between rain showers.
We had several favorites with this wedding…
First of all…her dress…Alice Temperly never looked soooo good, and the groom definitely cleaned up in his bespoke hounds-tooth suit. Grooms of the future, take note.
The ballroom was a little too grand for our taste and Mallory really wanted to bring the rustic elements inside, so we gathered stumps of various sizes and styled them in front of the stage with a mix of greenery and lanterns.
To pay homage to Kevin’s hunting hobby, we added antlers to the lush flowers arranged in mercury glass compotes and placed His + Hers deer racks above the sweetheart table.
The styled kids table, along with the 28 foot long family style bridal party table was a huge hit! As was the antique furniture provided by our pals Paisley + Jade, for the photo op area.
Rain or shine, we loved this day…and we really LOVE the Doughty Family.
